  Physical Conditioning Instructor Course
The staff of Bergen Police Academy will conduct a Physical Conditioning Instructor Course at their academy in Mahwah, Sept. 22nd-26th, 2008. This course is a required course for police officers who are planning to teach physical training at a P.T.C. approved academy in New Jersey. Their is no charge for officers attending from in-county police departments, however, the fee is 250 dollars for out-of-county registration. For further registration information, please call Lt.   The Essex County College Police Academy is conducting a Vehicle Operations Instructor Course from June 23-27th, 2008. The course registration fee is $150 for out-of-county officers, and no charge to officers within Essex County.

The Department of Justice has issued a notice that as of February 20, 2008, BAE Systems Products Group has removed several models of body armor from the National Institute of Justice's body armor data base.

The affected models appear to be:

  • American Body Armor, LLC: FZ-II.0; FZ-IIIA.0; XF-2-0 and XF3A-2
  • Safariland Armorwear, LLC: CAM-II.0 and PX-IIIA.1
  • Protech Tactical, LLC: PT-701; PTZ-701; PT-702; PTX-703; PT-705.0 and PTZ-705.0

  The Department of Justice recently advised that Pinnacle Armor Inc.’s body armor model SOV 200.1/MIL3AF01, is no longer in compliance with the NIJ’s testing program for bullet proof vests. “Dragon Skin” model SOV 200.1/MIL3AF01 will be removed from the NIJ’s list of approved body armor vests.
  DOJ recommends that officers who have this vest model should continue to wear it until it can be replaced.

The Burlington Police Academy in Pemberton is conducting a Radar Instructor Training Course October 15th-19th, 2007. For registration information, please call the academy at 609-726-7270. This course is required for police officers intending to teach radar in a police department or police academy.

The Bergen County Police Academy in Mahwah will conduct a Radar Instructor Training Course at the academy from Monday, April 30th-Friday, May 4th, 2007. This course is required by the Police Training Commission and Division of Criminal Justice in order to teach radar training. To attend this course, an officer is required to have two years of continuous radar operator experience.
 
  This course is offered free of charge for officers employed by any Bergen County Police Department, and $175 for officers employed outside of the county. For further registration information, please call the Bergen Police Academy, In-Service Training Unit, at 201-785-6000.
